Relocating recreational information and the park map to the park infosheets opens up space for artwork on the back side of the brochure that can also be displayed like a poster. The brochure pictured is a draft and is still in development.

Over the last few months, the Publications Unit has begun working on the first round of completely redesigned brochures. These new brochures are one part of a more thoughtful publications system, with different publications providing targeted information for specific audiences while promoting consistent branding, modern touches, and custom artwork to deliver words and images that engage the mind and the heart.

For the first time, park brochures are now being produced completely in-house, from new photography, writing, and bespoke graphics to printing and distribution in partnership with State Park’s Distribution and Reproduction Center (D.A.R.C.). These changes enable parks to print the brochures for free, on-demand, and in the quantities that work best for park staff while also sharing information in a way relevant to today’s visitors. Some aspects remain though, brochures will be printed on the same type of premium paper as before to help serve the role of a park souvenir.

In addition to brochures about specific parks, brochures on important statewide topics such as endangered and threatened species can also be created to support parks. The brochure pictured is a draft and is still in development.

While park infosheets provide basic plan-your-trip information like park hours and the park map, the park brochures will complement those by diving deeper and sharing a park’s story, encouraging visitors to connect to the “soul” of the park. With a stronger, more focused narrative that revolves around an interpretive thematic statement and with artwork that evokes an emotional connection, the park brochures are the narrative centerpiece in the Publications tool bag that also includes infosheets, campground, and more.

The new publications system consists of different material to provide more relevant and engaging information to help deliver your message to different audiences.
